The cookie is actually based on a vintage Christmas cookie that our grandmother used to make, the famous Starlight Mint Surprise Cookie. A cookie that in 1949 became the first runner-up in Pillsbury’s first Grand National Recipe and Baking Contest. The cookie is infused with Creme de Menthe alcohol and the Hershey kisses have been infused with peppermint extract.
